Freetown, Africa - Obituary
Charles Lloyd was born on July 13,1947 in Washington, DC to Joseph and Ruby Lloyd. He had 5 brothers, Edward, Harold, James, Harry, and Samuel, and 3 sisters, Mary, Joyce, and Brenda. Charles had 6 children, Ru Ki Yah, Ayo, Malik, Khalil, Charles Jr., and Ruby. He was also close to his nephew Adrian (AMOE) Edwards.
Charles was a strong believer in community development and worked throughout his life helping communities in both the Washington, DC and later Sierra Leon Africa. Lovejoy Jewelers in Washington DC is just one of the businesses he developed there. It was a family owned and operated jewelry store that also employed teens from the DC area. He continued his community service in Sierra Leone Africa, and taught how to make biofuel in Liberia.
Charles was a very kind, caring, and giving person who touched the lives of everyone that knew him. He was a pillar of the community. He is my brother who I love very much and will truly be missed by family and friends alike.
