Miss Beverly Ann Campbell Obituary

Washington, D.C. - Miss Beverly Ann Campbell, 72, passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2024, in Washington, District of Columbia. Born on July 20, 1952, in the same city she called home throughout her life, Beverly's journey was marked by dedication, warmth, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew her.

Beverly devoted nearly four decades of her professional life to the Library of Congress, where she began her career on December 27, 1976. Over the years until her retirement on January 2, 2016, she contributed to one of the nation's most treasured institutions with steadfast commitment and pride. Her long tenure reflected not only her work ethic but also a deep appreciation for knowledge and public service.

Outside of her professional accomplishments, Beverly embraced life with joy and authenticity. She found happiness in simple pleasures—roller-skating through the seasons of her youth and beyond, immersing herself in books that sparked her imagination, enjoying music that stirred her soul, and relaxing with television shows that brought laughter or reflection. She also had a spirited side—she loved to travel and wasn't shy about trying her luck as a gambler now and then.

Those closest to Beverly remember her as loving, caring, joyful, down-to-earth, and remarkably laid back. She treated everyone with respect and offered a listening ear without judgment. Her presence was comforting; she had a way of making others feel heard and valued. Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who loved her deeply.

She is survived by her devoted son Damon N. Jones; her sister Sandra Thomas; and her brother John A. Campbell. Beverly was preceded in death by her father John Campbell (2000), sister Pamela Thomas (2013), mother Pauline Campbell (2015), and brother Dennis Campbell (2022).

To those who knew Beverly best—especially her son—she was more than a mother; she was a constant source of support and inspiration. Her legacy lives on not only through cherished memories but also through the enduring impact she made on those around her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
